Have you ever noticed that there seem to be more children these days with severe allergies and intolerances, more with neurological conditions like ADHD and autism, and more who suffer from anxiety and even depression?
You may have noticed that on average we are having children at a later age, you may even be aware of more of your own friends who are struggling to conceive.
The reality is that we have more hormonal imbalances than ever before and globally sperm counts have fallen by over 50% in the last forty years.
What’s also clear is that modern life looks very different to the lives that generations before us lived. From the changing roles of women and men in society and the evolution of the traditional family unit, to the food that we eat and the products we put on our skin. Our lifestyles are more complex than they’ve ever been before, and we have a wealth of information at our fingertips to help us make almost every choice we are faced with on a day-to -day basis.
Why, then, has the information that we generally receive around having and raising healthy children barely evolved at all?
This is what The Journey is set to change.
Unfortunately, the issues surrounding conception, pregnancy and raising children are many and complex. There are sadly not as many ‘quick fixes’ or preventatives as we might wish.
However, we are starting to realise that understanding how our genes react with the environment around us could be the key to building a clearer picture, and a path forward. No, we can’t change our genes, but what we can take greater control of are the lifestyles we lead and the environments in which we lead them.
We believe that science backed knowledge is empowering. You just need to know where to look for it…
The sheer volume of information and opinions available to us through books, magazines, websites, social media, friends and family can sometimes feel empowering, but can at other times feel confusing and conflicted. Parenthood is a unique journey, individual to everyone who embarks upon it, and every experience will be different.
This is why we have spent years curating the latest science based, evidence backed research from some of the world’s leading experts – so that you can find the information that is most relevant to you and your own, individual journey. We break down difficult scientific jargon, deep dive into complex research, and share a full range of debate and insights from an expert advisory board. Far from opinion and judgement, we have created a safe space to help you to form your own picture and make your own decisions about the best next step for you on your journey…
